Friday night we had a small get together of girls. There were 5 of us and we met at Sumo for dinner around 6:30. Then we went to a bar called "The Brickyard" to hear a band play. It was quite a night! I have learned a lesson, laughed at myself, enjoyed the friendships I have and looked at the pictures that were taken several times. I can't wait for the next GNO, but I'll be a little wiser. I love you guys and I'm glad I went!

Bon Voyage!
Today my baby sister got on a plane and flew to "Cheerio England". She will be there for about a week doing the tour of the "Gems of Great Britain". She is with her best friend. They funny thing is the two of them drove from Manhattan to Wichita and back within about 4 hours... actually the funny thing is they got lost on the way home! Now those two avid travelers are across the ocean, in a foreign country. I sure hope they keep their GPS charged... and take a ton of pictures! We'll see you when your state-side. Be safe and I love you!

Perfect Summer Day
We had a perfect day yesterday! Jake was off, since he had to work all day the previous day. So we decided to spend the day having fun as a family. We got dressed and headed for the zoo. Owen's favorite place on Earth! Then we picked up Subway for lunch and came home for some naps (Allie and Daddy) and some quiet time for the rest of us. Then we went to Bella Luna at Bradley Fair for dinner followed by a stroll to the fountain and a visit with the ducks. Both kids went to bed smoothly and I even got to read a little from a book I've trying to get started. What a perfect day!

Sweet Dreams
My angel of a son has come a long way in the last year. Over a year ago, he was sleeping between Jake and I. Which means no one was getting any good sleep. Then Jake and I decided to get him to sleep in his own bed. It was easier than we thought. Tonight I went through our routine, tucked him in and said "Good night". I went and got myself ready for bed. Then I thought I should check on my two kids. Allie was quietly reading in her room. Next I checked on my son. He was perfect! I had to take a picture. I love my life!

Binkie Fairy-Take One
I've always known that my daughter has the personality that if she wants to do something, she's going to do it. So this shouldn't have surprised me as much as it did. But boy does it make for a great story!
Last night while I was brushing Allie's teeth she pulls back, puts her hands into a prayer pose, looking up at me with these wishful blue eyes and says, "Please mommy, can we call the Binkie Fairy?" I pause and look at her. "You want me to call the Binkie Fairy?" "Yes." she says, then explains, "If the Binkie Fairy comes she'll take away my binkies and give them to babies and then leave me a BIG GIRL PRESENT!" Once I realize she is serious, I quickly gather up the binkies into the "magic" bag and text my sister to give her a heads up that we will be calling her very soon. We make the call and Allie is all excited. We put the bag on the hall side of her gate and kiss her good night. She can't wait to see what the Binkie Fairy will bring her. I go downstairs and start watching TV with Jake.
Thirty minutes later, we hear this "NNNOOOOO, BIIINNNKIIEEE!!!!" I go upstairs and find my sweet little daughter laying on the floor by the gate, tears rolling down her face, looking at me and saying, "I... need... my... binkie!" I pick up the bag and her and take her back to bed. I lay her down and explain that it is okay if she needs them. We can always call the Fairy another night. She takes a binkie and puts it in her mouth. Then looking up at me, with tears rolling silently down her cheeks, she says, "I'm not a big girl. I need my binkie. Take my bed back." I quietly chuckle, smile and tell her that she is a "big girl" and she'll give up the binkie soon, just when she is REALLY ready. To be continued...

Boston Bound!
11:05 "I love this place! Will tell you more later..."
3:06 "We are going to Boston, deal done"
My reply, "Are you serious????"
3:10 "Yep, done"
He went, he saw, he got the deal! So from July 2010- July 2011, the Arnetts will be living in Boston, MA. Jake will be going to Harvard to do a fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesia. He is so excited! I can't wait to go there and check it out myself. The experiences we get to have will be priceless. It's a year away, but I know the time will fly. I will keep everyone posted on the developments as they happen.

Good Luck, Daddy!
Today, Jake flew to Boston to interview for a fellowship position. The kids aren't 100% sure about what is all going on and what that exactly means for us next year. But we are going to have a blast the whole time. I got the kids excited about Ann Arbor, by showing them a brochure of the menu from a place called the "Cupcake Station". You guessed it, they only sell cupcakes. My two little monkeys have already picked out the ones they want to try if we go there. I thought to get them perked about Boston, we'd send daddy off in style. Yesterday the kids and I painted a sign for daddy. I have learned some valuable tips for the next time we finger paint!!!
Good Luck, Daddy! We love you, miss you and can't wait to see you when you get back.
Love,
US
