About a month ago, the kids went to the dentist. They discovered that Owen had a baby molar that was stuck between two permanent molars and wouldn't come out. Because of this, the permanent tooth was starting to rotate. So they sent us to an orthodontist.
They told us his bottom teeth were very crowded due to his bottom wisdom teeth developing sideways. So they sent us to an oral surgeon to have the 4 wisdom teeth removed and the baby molar. They want us to come back and get him braces. We will see...
At the oral surgeon consult he told us that there was a chance he wouldn't need braces after the wisdom teeth came out and stopped pushing on the teeth. YEAH!!! So we scheduled an appointment to have his teeth removed. That was today.
Owen was very nervous but put on a very brave act for me. We walked into the office and checked in. Then they called him back. I went with him to put his nerves at ease. He started panicking and wanted to leave. The nurse was great. She explained everything to him. Another nurse came in, due to the crying and a little screaming. She suggested we just get the IV started as soon as he breathed in some of the gas. This took a little while as he wouldn't put it over his nose. After a few minutes, we got him to calm down enough and take a few deep breaths with the gas. That did it. Then they put in the IV needle. I left at that point, since they were about to sedate him.
About 15 minutes later, the receptionist informed me that he was in recovery and I would be called in about 15 minutes. Right on time, they buzzed me to pull my car around to talk with the nurse about meds, care and time frame and she helped me walk Owen to my car.
I drove by and got him Panera Mac and Cheese, then to Walgreen's to get more gauze and his meds. I was a little nervous about him having to swallow pills (it's a struggle). But by the time we got home, the anesthesia was starting to wear off and he was starting to feel discomfort. So I encouraged him to take his first pill. HE DID! He also took his antibiotic as well. I will have him on a every 3 hour rotation of pain pill and Advil to help with discomfort. But I think he's going to do AMAZINGLY!!!
Today, he is a man!

Ice Sculptures?
This has been one of the coolest features that I'm not used to. The ice cycles that form on most of the buildings here are EPIC! It almost makes it valid why we don't have curtains...you wouldn't be able to see out the window anyway.

Volley-Mania!
Today was our first experience with club volleyball tournaments. It started at 9:00 and we walked out at 1:30ish. They did two rounds of "pool tournament style" for a warm-up and placements for the bracket tournament that followed.
Allie is in Club South Volleyball. They have SO MANY girls playing that when they practice they split into the North and South teams. Allie is normally on the South team. But today, not enough girls showed up for the North team so 3 of the South girls played with them. Allie was one of the girls that played for the North team. She was a little hesitant since it was with a new coach. But after the first round, the coach knew her name and was bonding with Allie. During the first game of the bracket tournament, Allie's team won! She even served 6 points!!!

Snow, snow and more snow
14 inches and more in the forecast
I am SO glad that I bought snow tires. The past 3 days we have gotten that and then some. And apparently this snow storm isn't over yet. But the nice thing is there is no wind and the ability to get out and play in it is so easy and fun.
Today the kids had there first "snow day" so we took the dogs to the dog park. These are the days that memories are made.

Where in the World...
Most people my age would be able to finish that quote. "Is Carmen Sandeigo?" Well, now I get to play the same game but with my father-in-law. Last week he got back from going to Puerto Vallarta. He went there for a week to check it out and relax in some warmer weather. He had so much fun, he is now planning a trip for 2 weeks to Costa Rica at the end of this month. I'm so happy he is taking advantage of these opportunities. Doesn't he look happy?

Basketball
We have officially started this basketball season! And I have to say, my little girl has some skills (not just being tall). They play 3 on 3 for 4 minutes that rotate through the lineup. Allie's other two team mates in her group is Kameryn and Penelope. The first time they played, they won 1-0. The second time they lost 0-1. But as a whole, the Hutton team won!!! She had a BLAST!!! Our next game is Tuesday and it's on the road. She will take a school bus with her team to the other school. Of course, I will be there to watch.

Snow Shoeing
We just had the most magical few hours on Mt. Spokane. We decided to head up after lunch time and either ski or snow shoe. The closer we got to the top of the mountain, we settled on snow shoeing.
So we parked in the lot where we had gone hiking a few times and strapped on our shoes. It was so quiet, peaceful and breath-taking. At one part we came upon 2 women, a young girl and 2 golden retriever dogs. The dogs were SO HAPPY to be romping in the snow. They both came to us and said "Hello, now rub me!"
At the turn around point of the trail, the crew laid down in the snow for a quiet moment. It was so relaxing. Then we trekked back to the car. It was PERFECT! And we can't wait to do it again...maybe with OUR dogs!!

Buy one, give 100!
That's right! There is a store at the River Front Mall that sells clothing and accessories with faith based logos. The best part is all the employees are volunteers and 100% of the proceeds go to a charity.
I had to check this out. And of course, I walked out with a new pair of jogger pants and 2 stickers! Don't be surprised if I hand you a fancy brown bag with a gift inside this year for your birthday.
