Sledding at Fresh Pond

My kids have not experienced sledding, TRUE sledding until today. I took so many pictures, I'm not going to type much. I'll let the pictures tell my story. Enjoy.

Yeah, we'll be doing that again!

Blizzard 2010

Last night, it snowed. Let me say that better. Last night, IT SNOWED!!!! A LOT!!!! It's actually still snowing as I type this. My kids have NEVER seen this much snow. It was almost better than any present they opened earlier this week. I said ALMOST.

First we had to check it out from the warmth and safety of our apartment. Luckily, I have to adventurers that have "spotting scopes". They made some observations and came to a consensus. WE HAVE TO GO OUT THERE!

Allie, checking it out.

Owen joining her.

Now that the decision has been made, we begin the metamorphosis of becoming "Arctic Eskimos". I was fortunate to capture this process in a series of photos.

Pink under-layer

Black snow-overalls

Hat, Coat, Gloves and Boots.
She's READY!!!

A picture of the garage area.

Owen is actually standing, the snow here is up to his knees!

Allie is trying her best to keep up.

Wasn't the best snow to make a snowman. But the big snow clumps from the Bobcat worked just right.

Daddy helped build our FIRST snowman.

Then Allie knocked it over!

Owen is king of (one of) the mountain.

Not to be out-done, she needed assistance.

Daddy rebuilt another snowman, but he had other ideas.

BANZAI!!! Yep, he jumped off the mountain and onto the snowman.

It was one of the best hours I've ever had in the snow. And tomorrow we are planning on taking our sled out and finding some hills!!!! Did I mention it is still snowing?

BLIZZARD!!!!!

For those of you who have been watching the weather, you know Boston is in for a BLIZZARD over the next 24 hours. This is kind-of a cool thing for us. My kids have never really seen a lot of it and personally I can't remember seeing this much either. I've gone to the store and stocked up on all kinds of good things to eat, my flashlights are all juiced up and the kids have plenty of new toys to keep themselves entertained. So let the snow begin!

One thing my dad taught me, "snow is FUN". So at when the snow was just starting, I bundled the kids in their new snow pants and we went out to enjoy it.

Allie loved how the pants didn't get wet!

"Give me a KISS!"

I see you!

My son can't seem to keep his pants on!

Here they come, armed with snowballs.

I'm going to get you.

Someone was cold. :)

Someone was loving it. :)

And someone was ready to go back out in it. :)

We will go out tomorrow and see how much snow we got. Be looking for that post soon!

Merry Christmas, from Boston

Merry Christmas! Santa came and he did good. Our space/funds are limited, so I'm very pleased with how big a success he was! The kids each got a few key things they had asked for and one "big" thing. Here is the break down.

Owen got his Magic Set (250 tricks!), some animal figures and a Kung Zhu Pet.

Allie got her make-up box, some new Tag books and a Zhu-Zhu Pet.

A snap-shot of the contents in her box.

Allie checking out her new books.

Daddy and Owen starting the possible 2-day process of building his Lego AT-AT.

While the kids were distracted and daddy was busy with Legos, I went for a Christmas Morning Run around Fresh Pond. It was wonderful!!! Then we got dressed and went to CVS to pick up some antibiotics. (Owen might have an ear infection, didn't want to take a chance.)

The kids can't resist playing in the snow. Even when they aren't actually dressed appropriately!

We even found a mini snowman that someone had built.

All in all, it was a PERFECT Christmas Day. "And God bless us, Everyone!"
