First day of school 2019-20

Today our AMAZING kids started their second year of school in Spokane, WA.

Allie started 7th grade at Sacajawea Middle School.  She's very excited!  We went to "Sneak Peek" at the middle school on Tuesday for her to get a class schedule, walk around and test open a locker!

Owen started 10th grade at Lewis & Clark High School.  He was excited to start Pep Band this year on top of Jazz Band and Regular Band.  He will be playing at the home football and basketball games.

HAIR!

It is said you can tell a story with just pictures.  I am going to prove it is true.  On Monday, I spent over 5 hours at Koi Salon with Allie to get her hair ready for 7th grade.  This was a BIG adventure, but it paid off!  She loves it. We love it.  And seeing her walk around with that "EXTRA" confidence is worth it.  Enjoy the picture show.

Trivia Night

There is a bar downtown called nYne.  On Thursday nights they have a trivia contest.  A nurse that Jake works with invited us to join her for the game.  So Jen, Jake, Theresa and myself went there and walked away with 3rd place!!!  It was a lot of fun.  We met a guy who has his own brewery.  Discovered that all 3 of us females had punctuation tattoos on our left wrists.  Even ended up with some sweet swag.  I think this may become something we do regularly.

Camp Fire Camp Sweyolakan 2019

On August 11, our kids went on a week long camp in Couer d'Alene, Idaho.  This was the first time they went to a camp that I didn't attend as a counselor.  I was both excited and nervous for them.  I made sure their bags were packed and they would have everything they would need.  The funny fact about this, I was under the impression they were going to be returning on August 15.  When we dropped them off at the bus, the counselor told us to be at the same parking lot at 11:30 on Friday for pick up!!!!  The kids didn't hear this news, but we just said a prayer that everything would be ok when we returned on Friday to pick them up.

THEY LOVED IT!!!!!  I don't know where to begin with all their stories.  Allie slept in a tree house.  Owen slept in a teepee.  They both made new friends.  Owen's tribe won second place in a creative song competition.  Allie ranked level 1 in archery.  Neither of them are burnt by the sun, ate enough to survive and grew about 2 inches.  I'm so glad we are here in Washington where they are able to have these experiences.

Owen is 15!!!

This young man was the first to give me the title "mom".  He is now 15 years old.  He will be a sophomore in high school.  His heart is the biggest.  I know I only have a few more years with him under our roof, but I am going to make sure that when he does leave he is ready for the world.

We Are Family

While we were in Seattle, my mom and Uncle Dennis were moving my sister from Wichita, KS to my house in Spokane.  That's right!  My sister is now a resident of Spokane.  She will be staying with me for some time, while she finds a job and a place to call her own.  Now here is the added bonus!  My mom has decided she will be moving here as well.  We might get my mom by Christmas.  As I am typing this post, my mom has put an offer on this house here in Spokane that is just PERFECT for her.  The nice thing is the place has room for my sister to live with her.  We are just waiting to hear if she gets it.  I'll keep you all posted!!!

Seattle Trip 2019

We were only there for 3 days, 2 of which were travel days there and back.  But we had a BLAST!!!  We stayed at our new favorite hotel that was located just a few blocks from Pike's Market.  We walked it the first day.  The second day we went on the Underground Seattle Tour and that night went to a WOTE concert.  It was Owen's first concert.  It was a great show and the memories from this trip have encouraged us to do a trip to Seattle at least once a year if not more.
