Training-Week 2

Sorry! There wasn't a picture taken after my 8 mile run. (I'll explain the reason later.) I didn't take my usual route of going around Fresh Pond. Instead, I wore Jake's Garmin and ran along the Charles River. It was so much fun to mix it up. The weather is getting so perfect for running that there were TONS of runners out. Some (quite a few, I figure) were in training for the Boston Marathon that is coming up in 2 weeks. It was so wonderful! I've completed 2/30 weeks of this training schedule and I'm loving every moment of it. I start my hill training next week! Now, for the reason of no picture. As I was coming around the corner to our apartment, I was greeted by my two "angels" and hubby. They had gone on a neighborhood walk and were returning at the same time. It was amazing to see their faces and to see them running towards me. I'm running for me, but I'm a role model for them. And seeing those smiles is all the motivation I need to keep running.

Quotes from Allie-take 2

Yesterday it was raining and cold. It had it's moments when there would actually be snow and ice pellets falling. But this weather didn't slow us down, or stop Allie from making several entertaining comments.

#1 We were quickly walking down the sidewalk, I'm holding Allie's hand so she doesn't fall and I know where she is. When she says, "Where are you DRAGGING me to NOW?" (In a way, I bet she did feel like I was dragging her.)

#2 We have pulled into the garage and Allie has gotten out of the car. I tell her to wait by the back of the car while I grab the groceries. She has chosen to stand several feet behind the car in the open driveway area. She then says, "GREAT! I'm standing in the rain, WHAT were you thinking?" (I was thinking she'd know better than to stand in the rain.)

I never know what is going to come out of her mouth, but it ALWAYS keeps me smiling!

No Joke!

April 1st, some people wake up cautious as to what pranks and jokes await them. This is what I woke up to! SNOW! These poor flowers. I know that spring is just around the corner, but boy do I feel like we might have taken a wrong turn somewhere. Let's just hope this is the last of the white stuff.

Vermont Souvenirs

The kids and their new bears.

When one thinks of Vermont, you think of lots of things. Cheddar Cheese, Maple Syrup, Skiing, Ice Cream... and now we think of Teddy Bears! There is a cool teddy bear factory in Vermont (we weren't able to visit it when we went there last month). We decided we would let the kids each design their own as a souvenir from their trip. They were so happy to get them!

Paul Revere

Today was Owen's first field trip. The entire first grade is studying the Revolutionary Period, they are even putting on a performance next Wednesday. So their trip was to Paul Revere's house. Their tour guide selected several students to dress in costumes and say lines at appropriate times of her tour. And guess who was chosen as Paul... OWEN!!! He was so excited when I picked him up. Jonas's dad went on the trip as a helper, so he took several pictures and sent them to me. As you can see, he had FUN!

Got stickers?

I have seen so many DIFFERENT things here in Boston. And yesterday was the same. I've seen people go a little nutty with the number of bumper stickers, but this owner took it to the next level. I guess when you run out of bumper, you spread out!

Student of the WEEK

This is the poster he made.

This week, is Owen's WEEK! He is the "Student of the Week". It means getting special places to sit, stand in line, talk about himself during class meeting and on Friday I will be bringing morning snack/reading his favorite book to the class. He's so excited! This has been a wild year, but a year of huge progress and many successes. This week is just one of the several gems in his First Grade Crown.
