Only words... or are they?

I read a blog of a friend of mine this morning about how others can make you feel. It made me start to think how POWERFUL the smallest words can be. Her perspective has come from negative circumstances. Mine is going to be a positive.

The last few nights my children have been having some sleep issues, which adds up to sleep issues for me. The night before last was a bad one. I was really tired all day yesterday, but things needed to get done. I tied on my cape and trudged through my "To Do" list. At the end of a long day, I tried to get a few miles on the treadmill. I was only able to get half of what I wanted. I was draining fast. So I took a long, hot shower and got ready for bed. My son only woke up 2 or 3 times, but they were all before midnight. I even woke up in the middle of the night, realizing that he hadn't come back. I drifted back to sleep. My husband kissed me as he left for work and the next thing I remember is my son coming in to tell me he couldn't shut his alarm off. AWESOME! He stayed in there. I shut his alarm off and we cuddled in my bed until my "amazing sleeper" daughter woke up and joined us. We were eating breakfast when my phone alerted me to a new text. I went to get my phone and saw what it said. "Good morning to the best mother I know". It was from my husband.

These few words, only a moment in his busy work day, made mine!

When they say...."the pen is mightier than the sword..." they weren't kidding! The cost is so little...but the value is so great...this world would truly be a better place if only most people could see and understand that! Life is too short and unpredictable to not appreciate the words shared with those they love and cherish...YOU are a wonderful MOTHER! Also, a wonderful daughter and a person who will be thought highly of for many many years....think of your students and their parents...your fellow teachers....peers and your co-workers along life's highway....You don't always get the affirmation....but you have planted many seeds and I am sure they have been a bountiful harvest for those who have had the opportunity to be a part of your life! I am very proud to be a part of your life and even more to be your father...Thank you for being such a wonderful person.
