Gift 11

Sledding.  This is a childhood dream.  We wish and hope for that morning when we open our eyes and see a thick blanket of fluffy white snow covering every each of this world.  So that we can bundle up and set off on an epic arctic adventure.

Yesterday we accomplished that dream.  It had snowed on Monday, but since it gets dark early we weren't able to go sledding after the dog park.  So as soon as we got home from school, we all bundled up and grabbed our sleds.  We walked to Manito Park, where we had seen a few others sledding the day before.

We got there, and we were the ONLY ones.  There was two hills PERFECT for sledding.  One was big and gradual.  The other was shorter and steeper.  The kids and Jake did the big one a few times first.  Then we finished at the shorter steeper one.  We spent almost a whole hour doing this.

By the time the street lights came on, we were wet from the snow and glistened of perspiration.  The smiles on our faces warmed our bodies all the way to our tingling fingers and toes.  We picked up the sleds and walked home.

My favorite quote of the night, Owen says as we trudge up 18th street home, "This was a childhood dream come true.  The sledding was AWESOME!"

I completely agree.  A gift I will always remember.
