I have had them take a pic every year (except one-Allie was just born). I frame them and put them out as part of my holiday decorations. I love seeing them grow up from year to year, frame to frame. Allie isn't a huge fan of this tradition, but we got lucky this year in Spokane. This new Santa really embraced the spirit and had conversations with both my kids.
I know they promised they would do this every year as a gift to me, but I'm sure there will be years it isn't possible. But for now, this is a gift I treasure.
